Applications for enrollment are in progress

What makes this study special?

Because it is performed in English, the study prepares students for international scientific and professional communication from the very beginning. Its running includes top scientists and professors from international institutions such as Yale University, Santa Fe Institute, Northeastern University and Université de Poitiers. This gives students the opportunity to hear from international experts at the beginning of their studies, to connect with them and get to know their work. The plan is to organize international summer school in Split, led by renowned international scientists, on a regular basis.

Furthermore, with the University of Northeastern we agreed on a visit of a group of their students that will work on joint projects with the purpose of networking and exchanging experiences. In addition, the study is fully adapted to the requirements of the European Qualification Standard for Psychologists, "EuroPsy", developed by EFPA (European Federation of Psychologists' Associations). In this way, students who complete their undergraduate studies in Split can continue their studies in all Master degree programs in psychology in the EU. Finally, it is worth mentioning all advantages of Split, from the city’s beauty, climate and the sea, which provides added value to studying this program.

Why another study of psychology?

For years, Psychology has been one of the most sought-after studies in Croatia, but also in other EU countries. This is not by chance and there are at least three reasons for it. First, psychology is interesting in itself and in most people stimulates curiosity as it enables one to learn about oneself and others. Second, psychologists are an extremely sought-after profession, from clinical and psychotherapeutic work, education, sports, design, human resources and marketing, all the way to developing artificial intelligence and cognitive neuroscience. In fact, whenever people are involved, there is work for psychologists. Also, we must not forget that any study of psychology, including ours, prepares students for scientific work and critical thinking, which contributes to psychologists’ competencies, regardless of their professional orientation. Third, the current situation involving corona virus pandemic showed that there is a significant lack of psychologists, because they represent an important pillar of society in preventing and treating psychological difficulties.

What title is acquired completing the study?

Finishing their study, students acquire 180 ECTS and the title Bachelor of Psychology.

How long does the study last?

Three years.

What can students expect?

From the very beginning we will work with students to develop practical communication and research knowledge and skills. The study provides specialization within different disciplines of psychology (e.g. personality psychology, social psychology, clinical, biological, cognitive, developmental, educational psychology... etc.) and main theoretical approaches within these disciplines. In addition, students will gain basic knowledge of scientific disciplines related to psychology (e.g. anthropology, philosophy, sociology...). Every following year of study introduces students to new areas in psychology and, building on their so far acquired competencies, more will be required from them in terms of independent work. Students are not left to themselves in that process, but from the first year have a mentor/advisor or one professor assigned to them, who will be available for questions and everything related to the study program.

In addition to mentors/advisors, students have at their disposal the Centers for Student Counseling and for Career Development and Management, operating at the Faculty of Humanities in Split, where they will get advice if they need it. Also, during the study, students can spend one or more semesters outside their home institution, at one of the European universities, in exchange programs such as Erasmus and CEEPUS.
