The Alliance for Green Cities’ conference took place March 3, organized by USA Embassy in Croatia the US Department of Energy, the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center, and the City of Split.

University of Split’s vice-rectors, prof. Igor Jerković Ph.D., prof. Nikša Jajac Ph.D. and prof. Zoran Đogaš Ph.D. also attended this conference, bearing in mind that University of Split contributes to social and economic well-being of our community with its teaching, research and activities.

Mayor Ivica Puljak also expressed his satisfaction that this conference is taking place in Split. According to him, cities are the ones that implement solutions, and Split in particular has the ambition to become most modern in the region and already has many projects heading in that direction.

Andrew Light, deputy secretary for international affairs at the US Department of Energy, said - We are delighted to launch the Alliance for Green Cities and collaborate with local stakeholders to provide them access to Department of Energy's laboratories’ technical expertise, to work on developing municipal investment plans, to modernize infrastructure and other measures needed to develop low-carbon emissions.

The Partnership for Transatlantic Energy and Climate Cooperation (P-TECC) is a multilateral initiative led by US Department of Energy that focuses on rapidly decarbonizing Central and Eastern Europe economies, strengthening energy security in the region, creating business ties with US companies and fostering cooperation. It consists of 24 countries of Central and Eastern Europe and agrees with the Three Seas Initiative.
