From April 9 to 11, 2025, Split will become a centre for scientific discussions on environmental protection, sustainable development and innovative practices. The 5th International ZORH Conference, titled "Environmental Protection, Sustainable Production & Examples of Best Practices" will take place at Faculty of Chemistry and Technology in Split, gathering scientists, experts, and students from various parts of the world, all focused on research related to environmental protection and sustainable development. This event is unique in that it is organized by Split’s Faculty of Chemistry and Technology students, with the support of SEA-EU Alliance and student section of Croatian Society of Chemical Engineers, as well as partners: Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy, and Recycling, Technical University in Košice (Slovakia), Faculty of Chemistry, University of Gdańsk (Poland), and the Maritime Faculty of Kotor (Montenegro).

This year's conference emphasizes interdisciplinarity and practical solutions to ecological challenges with key topics including:        
• Circular economy and sustainable waste management     
• Green technologies and innovations in industry   
• Bioremediation and environmental microbiology 
• Pharmaceutical waste and ecological risks
• From knowledge to action: Implementing sustainability.

Renowned experts will present latest research and trends in Environmental Protection from a global perspective. Among many, plenar speakers are:

Prof. Kerstin Forsberg, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, “Challenges in hydrometallurgical processing of materials and opportunities for circularity”

Prof. Igor Živković PhD, Jožef Stefan Institute, Ljubljana, “Mercury in Adriatic seawater, sediments, and biota: origin, transformations, and trends

Dr. Tanja Bogdanović, Veterinary Institute Split, “Microplastics - a growing environmental problem and a threat to public health: findings from the last twenty years of research”
