The European University of the Seas (SEA-EU) is launching a new phase in the development of higher education by launching joint degree programmes in English. These programmes combine academic excellence, international mobility and strong links with industry, and represent the highest level of internationalisation for universities.

The highest level of internationalisation in education

SEA-EU’s joint programmes are designed as integrated courses in which students study at least at two partner institutions within the alliance during their studies. This model enables a truly international experience — not only through exchange, but through a shared curriculum and coordinated supervision.

Students of the joint programmes receive a degree with high European added value, developing key competencies for today: intercultural skills, interdisciplinarity, adaptability and the ability to work in complex systems.

SEA-EU programmes focus on some of the most important areas crucial for Europe’s future: the sustainable blue economy, transformation of port and logistics systems, and management of organisational transition and resilience in the context of climate and social change.

Strategic dimension and long-term impact

The launch of joint programmes represents an important step towards creating an integrated European higher-education area. The programmes are aligned with the priorities of the green transition, digital transformation and sustainable development and are shaped in close cooperation with stakeholders from industry and the public sector.

For students, this means greater international competitiveness; for industry and public institutions — access to highly educated professionals and a platform for long-term cooperation. For the European higher-education area, these programmes represent a model that integrates knowledge, mobility and innovation into a single, functional whole.
