The University of Gdańsk invites students to participate in the International Summer School “Pollution in the Coastal Zone (POLCA 2.0),” which will take place May 4-13, 2026, in Poland.
The summer school will take place at University of Gdańsk’s Faculty of Oceanography and Geography (Al. Piłsudskiego 46, Gdynia, Poland) and is intended for undergraduate and graduate students from fields of earth and environmental sciences or related areas.
The program includes a total of 84 hours of classes, including lectures, laboratory exercises, fieldwork, and instruction aboard the research vessel Oceanograf. Special emphasis is placed on physical, biological, chemical, and geological processes of the Baltic Sea, methods for monitoring and interpreting marine environment, recognizing anthropogenic threats in coastal areas, and conducting basic field and lab measurements, including use of drones.
Students from international universities are provided travel cost reimbursements and scholarships of 4,500 PLN, and upon completion of the program, participants earn 4 ECTS credits.
