The educational workshop titled “Development and Application of Qualification Standards in the Field of Higher Education,” organized by the Agency for Science and Higher Education (AZVO), took place January 29-30 at Faculty of Kinesiology in Split.
The workshop, led by Head of Qualifications Sector, MSc Emita Blagdan, and the Head of the Croatian Qualifications Framework (HKO) Department, Kristina Svalina, is intended for staff involved in developing study programs, quality assurance, creating qualification standards, micro-credentials, and lifelong learning programs.
Two years ago, three kinesiology faculties in Croatia embarked on a joint journey, which included defining the Croatian Qualifications Framework. So far, we have established occupation standard and next steps are to define qualification standard. Accordingly, Split Faculty of Kinesiology integrated modernization of study programs in its program agreements, which will include workshops that will help us define qualification standards within the kinesiology profession in the upcoming period - Dean Frane Žuvela emphasized.
Today’s workshop is directed towards kinesiology faculties in Croatia, but also the wider academic community, in order to collectively discuss principles, objectives, and the framework necessary to know when developing qualification standards, so that they can be integrated into the Croatian Qualifications Framework. We will also cover broader topics related to quality assurance and principles of the register, or Croatian Qualifications Framework, which aims to improve the system in terms of ensuring quality of competencies acquired upon graduating from faculties in Croatia, aligned with labour market needs and occupation standards - Emita Blagdan said.
MSc Emita Blagdan presented the program for the workshop’s second day, which will include discussions on lifelong learning, the need to create educational programs at higher education level aimed at acquiring micro-credentials. These include short programs focused on working population, offering the opportunity of gaining clear and narrow competencies necessary for the labour market.
