14th Croatian Cochrane Symposium at Split School of Medicine

Research in health system and the question what kind of research we need to make informed decisions concerning evidence-based treatment are main topics of the 14th Croatian Cochrane Symposium, which took place, September 1, at School of Medicine in Split.

The symposium was also followed online, and the participants were greeted by prof. Katarina Vukojević Ph.D., School of Medicine’s vice dean for science, postgraduate studies and international cooperation of the, and prof. Ana Marušić Ph.D., Cochrane Croatia’s head of research and a distinguished scientist from the School of Medicine. Vice-dean Vukojević wished successful work to all participants and expressed hope that this symposium yields new insights that will lead to increasing quality in medical care.

Excellent scientists and experts attended the symposium, such as keynote speakers assoc. prof. Krešimir Dolić Ph.D., University hospital of Split’s Deputy Director and Flora Giorgio, Deputy Head of Unit, B6 Medical Devices and HTA (Health Technology Assessment), DG SANTE European Commission, and participants of two panels.

Cochrane Croatia is organizing this symposium as an opportunity to discuss the role of primary and secondary clinical research as an important source of decision-making based on evidence and involving various stakeholders. The Symposium's target audience includes Croatian and regional health research communities, experts in EBM (Evidence Based Medicine) and HTA, decision-makers in health and representatives of professional medical and patient organizations.
