18 newly equipped laboratories at the Faculty of Chemical Technology were officially opened

Prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., University of Split Rector and prof. Matko Erceg Ph.D., Faculty of Chemistry and Technology’s Dean, on March 1 officially opened 18 newly equipped laboratories at the Faculty in Split.

Dean Erceg explained that HRK 3,355,375.00 was spent on equipping the laboratory, as part of the infrastructure project "Functional integration of the University of Split, PMF-ST, PF-ST and KTF-ST through the development of scientific research infrastructure in the Three Faculties Building" (KK.01.1.1.02.0018.), conducted by the University of Split together with its partners: Faculty of Science, Faculty of Maritime Studies and Faculty of Chemistry and Technology.

- The newly opened laboratories are in quality comparable to laboratories in European and the world higher education for experimental teaching. These laboratories will also be used for realization of scientific research projects as well as professional activities at the Faculty - concluded Dean Erceg.

Rector Dragan Ljutić also did not hide how proud he was, saying that the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology’s premises and equipment are at the world level, which is in line with results this Faculty achieves, and will enable expanding many forms of cooperation with other universities, especially those within the European University of the Seas Alliance.

Former KTF’s dean, prof. Igor Jerković Ph.D. pointed out that two research projects will take place in these laboratories - Centre of Excellence for Bioprospecting of the Adriatic Sea (BioProCro) and the other one related to Trilj Competence Centre, for which new equipment worth HRK 2 million is expected soon.

In this important time for improving the Faculty’s entire activity and future, a permanent exhibition entitled "KTF’s Time Machine", was initiated and led by prof. Nataša Stipanelov Vrandečić Ph.D. was ceremoniously opened.
