Last week, the finals of the fifth international Ocean Hackathon competition took place, where our team Dock.me won third place among strong competitors. This year exceptionally, the finals were held online and the main organizer was Campus mondial de la mer from Brest.

The French Minister of the Sea Annick Girardin inaugurated the event, which took place on Friday, December 4, and some of the competition sponsors are Ifemer (French Institute of Oceanography), Shom (French Hydrographic and Oceanographic Institute), Météo France (French Meteorological Institute), Le Village by CA (Start-up Incubator), Office Français de la Biodiversité (French Office for Biodiversity) and others. The team from Ancona, led by the Institute of Biological Resources and Marine Biotechnology CNR-IRBIM, won first place in the competition finals, Mexican Carbón ¡Oh no was second and the excellent bronze went to Dock.me, our local winners.

Dock.me team won the first Ocean Hackathon in Split with the project of intelligent ship moorings, "Advanced mooring in marinas", thus qualifying for grand international finals. The winning team consists of Josip Marasović and his associates Josip Baumgartner, Zvonko Jelačić, Tomas Pinjušić, Neno Židić, Ivan Samardžić and Petar Perković, who together developed a system to facilitate booking of moorings for all users of nautical ports.

Ocean Hackathon is, as you all know, a 48-hour-long competition in which maritime lovers use digital data to find innovative solutions related to seas, oceans and coastal areas. This year's competition took place in October in 11 cities, at the same time, in Croatia, Italy, Spain, Mexico and France. The first Ocean Hackathon in Split was realized by the joint efforts of the organizers, the Office for Technology Transfer of the University of Split and its partners, the European Entrepreneurship Network (EEN), Science and Technology Park of the University of Rijeka, Technology Park Varaždin, Split Tech City association, Student Entrepreneurship Incubator (SPI) and ICT County support. Given the epidemiological situation, the competition was organized partly online and partly live, adhering to all security measures.
We would like to congratulate another team on their exceptional success and wish them luck in their future work, which is now internationally recognized and rewarded!
