FACULTY OF ECONOMICS’ EU PROJECT 'SMARTCULTOUR' - 'We want to develop cultural tourism, while working on the well-being of the local community'

As part of Horizon 2020, European Union's research and innovation program, topic "TRANSFORMATIONS - Innovative approaches to urban and regional development through cultural tourism", six scientific projects aimed to explore the impact of cultural tourism on developing European regions and urban areas were funded. One of these projects is "SmartCulTour (Smart Cultural Tourism as a Driver of Sustainable Development of European Regions)", funded by € 2,980,000.50 and coordinated by the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, partnered by Faculty of Economics, University of Split (EFST).

EFST team has ten members, including the team leader prof. Lidija Petrić Ph.D., from the Department of Tourism and Economy, assoc. prof. Smiljana Pivčević, Ph.D., assist. prof. Davorka Mikulić, Ph.D. assist. prof. Blanka Šimundić Ph.D., assoc. prof. Vinka Muštru Ph.D., assoc. prof. Blanka Škrabić Ph.D., assoc. prof. Marko Hella Ph.D., Josip Grgić, Zvonimir Kuliš and assist. prof. Ante Mandić Ph.D.

Goal of Split’s Living Lab is to create an environment to develop cultural tourism in destinations where it is underdeveloped, where there is an opportunity to improve sustainability in the context of supply and demand, where the benefits of developing tourism are not aimed to strengthen the local community’s well-being and resilience.
