Final conference of the project "Dig IT - Developing occupational and qualification standards in computer science"

The final conference of the project "Dig IT - Developing occupational and qualification standards in computer science" took place March 21 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (FESB). Split’s FESB is the project holder-leader and its partners: the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb (FER), the Technical Faculty in Rijeka (RITEH), the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Information Technology in Osijek (FERIT) and University in Dubrovnik’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing.

In the introduction, everyone present were greeted by prof. Branimir Lela Ph.D., Vice Dean for Science at FESB, prof. Duško Pavletić Ph.D., Dean of RITEH and prof. Tomislav Matić Ph.D., Dean of FERIT, who all expressed their satisfaction with project results.

The project was presented by assoc. prof. Toni Perković Ph.D. from FESB, also the project leader-manager, prof. Ivica Botički Ph.D. from FER, prof. Ivan Štajduhar Ph.D. from RITEH, assoc. prof. Mario Miličević Ph.D., from University of Dubrovnik’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing, and assoc. prof. Irena Galić Ph.D. from FERIT.

This is a project worth HRK 3,791,506.00, funded by the European Social Fund, the Operational Program Effective Human Resources, for the financial period 2014-2020, from the call Implementation of Croatian Qualification Framework (CROQF) in higher education (UP.03.1.1.03). The amount of co-financing is 100 percent, 85 percent the European Social Fund, and 15 percent Republic of Croatia.

The project started on March 22, 2019 and lasted for 36 months.

- 28 professors worked on the project, and activities within the "DigIT" project were directly related to developing new and existing study programs in Computer Science. 4 occupational and 4 qualification standards were developed for key areas in computing, which are being affirmed and will become more and more important: Master of Computer Science - Data Science, Master of Computer Science – in Computer Engineering, Master of Computer Engineering – in Software Engineering and Bachelor of Computer Science. Based on them, teaching processes at 4 faculties and 1 university department providing study programs in computer science in Croatia will be improved - said Toni Perković.

- Within the "DigIT" project, software/web application for monitoring employability of computer science graduates and evaluating learning outcomes, one for creating/optimizing study programs and implementation plans and one for organizing and monitoring computer science traineeships were also developed at FESB - Toni Perković presented other project results.
