The Agreement on free student transportation students on the route Spinut - Campus, signed on Friday, February 26, in front of the Student Dormitory Hostel Spinut by the Rector of the University of Split prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D. and President of Promet’s Management Board, Miroslav Delić provides the students with this benefit. The ceremony was also attended by the director of the Student Center Ivan Žižić, President of the Student Union Mateo Marušić, Mayor of Split Andro Krstulović Opara and Tomislav Đonlić, Head of the Administrative Department for Education, Culture, Technical Culture and Sports in Split-Dalmatia County, Vice Rectors prof. Goran Kardum Ph.D. and prof. Tomislav Kilić Ph.D., Secretary General Filip Klarić-Kukuz, Head of Rector's Office Ivana Pletković and Infrastructure Projects Coordinator Marijan Bašić.
This Agreement will provide University of Split students with a better connection between the dormitories in Spinut and the Campus. It will also raise the level of student standards, as transportation will be free, significantly affecting already modest student budgets.
Rector Ljutić pointed out that activities like this show that Split is becoming a real student city. He said this this kind of University’s engagement for students is truly unique.
- That is just how we are in Split. I do not want to say the best, but among the best, in the entire region from Poland and the Czech Republic to Greece, Italy, Austria and all neighboring countries - said Rector Ljutić, thanking the Croatian Government and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, the County and the Mayor, Krstulović Opara. He said that the university aims not only to nurture the idea of ‘universitas’, but also real, tolerant relations between professors and students who ultimately give new values - knowledge, progress, growth, development, not only of our local environment, but entire Croatia.
- Split is a students’ city, come to study in Split. These are indicators of what this University, city and county, does for everyone who chooses the best university in the entire region - the rector concluded.
- For now, number of departures has been determined as the students required, given the activities on campus during the day require a connection with the dormitory, but this does not mean that we will not add to this, or increase  number of departures, depending on students’ needs. As a business, we are ready to act to at any time. It is my pleasure that we talked, coordinated and agreed in a short time. The direct line will be the fastest way, in about 15 minutes, to connect Spinut with the Campus - said director Delic.
- The Student Center’s main mission is to offer the students best possible student standard for the lowest possible price. This event is a step in that direction, because students get a bus line to the Campus completely free, so they will save money, and some time - pointed Director Žižić, thanking everyone who contributed to realize this idea.
Mateo Marušić, University of Split’s president of the Student Union, said that the popular line number 17 used to take more than one hour in prime time, which was a problem for students getting to the Campus for a long time. Following from students’ initiative, the problem was solved in their favor with the agreement between Rector Ljutić and Director Delić.
- Six rides every day connecting the two academic centers is something that we could only dream of before and today it is coming true - concluded Marušić.
Mayor Andro Krstulović Opara and County Head Tomislav Đonlić addressed the public, supporting this engagement of the University, and emphasized the joint work of all stakeholders in the development of our City and County.
