INTERNATIONALIZATION OF GRADUATE STUDY PROGRAMS AT THE FACULTY OF SCIENCE, UNIVERSITY OF SPLIT

The project Internationalization of graduate study programs at the Faculty of Science in Split, whose final conference was held last week, began in 2018, in cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, University of Split, the Mediterranean Institute for Life Research and Oracle Croatia. Their common goal is to increase the quality of higher education in Croatia.

Enrollment quota is about twenty students per each study program, and first students already enrolled the academic year 2021/2022, two graduate study programs in English, Astrophysics and Particle Physics and Environmental Physics. The former provides students’ understanding of nature, intertwining astrophysics and elementary particle physics, applying modern data analysis methods, and the opportunity to engage in scientific research at large global collaborations such as CERN; the latter combines physics and environmental science - necessary knowledge that guarantees better understanding of global climate change, environmental protection, need for renewable energy and securing such energy.

As experts in the field of molecular biosciences will be on demand in the future, the study of Molecular Biology is being launched, and great emphasis will be on the practical part of teaching. The study Data Science and Engineering will educate a new generation of experts engaged in collecting, organizing and storing massive amounts of diverse data, statistical analysis, visualization and machine learning applied in medicine, economics, language and the like.

The European Union financed total value of the project, HRK 1,780,928.91 from the European Social Fund.
