Kinesiology students were the first to attend classes in a modernly equipped virtual classroom

The University of Split’s virtual classroom is operational. The Faculty of Kinesiology’s graduate students were first who today had the opportunity to attend classes in a modernly equipped virtual classroom located in Sinjska Street. More precisely, due to epidemiological reasons, five of them followed the course Motor Learning live and about 50 via a video link.

- This is the first classroom of its kind in our University but also beyond. Its equipping was funded by the SEA-EU project. It will certainly help raise quality of teaching processes that will have to go online, taking into account the situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic - said prof. Đurđica Miletić PhD, the University’s Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, who also taught the course at her home faculty.

She pointed out that this is the first of three virtual classrooms in our University; the second should be located in the University Library’s north tower multifunctional hall. Also all virtual classrooms will be put at the disposal of all University of Split constituents.

In the project European Universities of the Sea (SEA-EU), a number of virtual mobility and teaching activities are planned, one of them being the BILATERAL CLASSROOM. This activity involves networking of two professors in the SEA-EU alliance coming from similar fields of teaching. They will give lectures in English interacting with students via real-time videoconferencing system. In this way, professors connect with each other and provide their students with international study experience as an incentive to increase quality of study. The SEA-EU virtual classroom is equipped with a modern CTOUCH RIVA interactive touch-screen and has all the functions of a computer. The 75-inch monitor sits atop an adjustable stand fully adjustable to the lecturer’s height. The virtual classroom also contains a LOGITEC MEETUP conference device with two modern cameras (Lumens VC-AP and LOGITECH), loudspeakers and three microphones. In addition to fixed microphones, lecturers have at their disposal a wireless one that allows them free movement during lectures. The classroom meets all the requirements of modern virtual classrooms for sharing lectures, but also for video conferencing because it can record lectures using LUMENS VS-LC 200 device for recording, editing and distributing audio and video signals, built-in 1 TB hard drive, camera control and streaming.
