LiberatoMap, presented mobile app, provides persons with disabilities easier access to info about accessibility

LiberatoMap app, created by University of Split’s Department of Professional Studies’ students, is a simple and practical way of finding accessible locations for persons with disability in Dalmatia.

- The application currently covers 5 Dalmatian cities, Split, Trogir, Omiš, Makarska and Zadar, and we hope that soon there will be more - said Stipo Margić, 5th year student of Applied Computing at University's Department of Professional Studies and president of the Liberato Association, who also organized this project. The application is available on Android and iOS devices.

- These are bright examples and an indicator of how to work because they combined acquired knowledge with their needs, but this application goes beyond that, as it is useful for all citizens. The University will also include students from its other components, for example, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy students, in cooperation with the Liberato Association, will continue to remove physical barriers for persons with disabilities - prof. Nikša Jajac Ph.D., University of Split’s Vice-rector for infrastructure expressed his support to developing this kind of initiatives.

Ivan Bogdanović, head of University of Split’s Office for Students with Disabilities, had the opportunity to try out the application, saying that this is a big step for cities currently in the application.

- I am proud of Stipo and Liberato Association, which brought us all together and showed us how, with hard work and affirmative approach to problems, one can succeed in society – Bogdanović concluded.

Stipe Čogelja, deputy prefect of Split-Dalmatia County, and Alijana Vukšić, president of City of Split’s Tourist Board, supported the initiative and Association’s work.
