Opening ceremony of the 14th Croatian-French Days of Administrative Law

Croatian-French Days of Administrative Law, a two-day international conference that is being held for the 14th year in a row, only this time in a special webinar edition, is opened on 17 September at the Faculty of Law in Split. This conference already traditionally gathers the most eminent legal experts, academics, and practitioners, mostly in the area of administrative law to present and discuss the most up-to-date administrative law issues and institutes. This year's topic will be: "The activities of public bodies and administrative courts during the pandemic of coronavirus".

Associate professor Mirko Klarić, Ph.D., the dean of the Faculty of Law in Split, has expressed his gratitude to sponsors and institutions for supporting this conference. Ante Galić, the president of the High Administrative Court of the Republic of Croatia addressed all present via video link.

All participants and organizers were also welcomed by professor Dragan Ljutić, Ph.D., the rector of the University of Split. The rector stressed the importance of our cooperation with the University in Brest within the alliance European University of the Seas. Moreover, he emphasized that the University of Split is very proud of hosting this conference, traditionally now for the 14th time in a row. – We find ourselves in special circumstances now, and this is precisely the topic of this conference. In a way, it prompts us to think more about the organization challenges the University now faces – said the rector Ljutić wishing everyone a successful conference.

Gael Veyssiere, the French ambassador in the Republic of Croatia, also held a welcoming speech. The conference was attended by Ivan Malenica, a minister of the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration of the Republic of Croatia who will present a topic "The importance of the activities governed by the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration during the pandemic of coronavirus", while Bruno Lasserre, vice-president of the Council of State (France) will be a panelist on the topic "The role of the council of state during the pandemic of coronavirus".

In addition to the partnership of the Faculty of Law, the University of Split, and the University of Panthéon Assas – Paris II, which continuously organizes Croatian-French Administrative Law Days from the beginning, other institutions have also been taking part in the organization of the event, such as High Administrative Court of the Republic of Croatia, Legislative Office of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Ministry of Justice and Public Administration of the Republic of Croatia, Centre for European documentation and research - Robert Schuman (Split), Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia, French Embassy in the Republic of Croatia, Split-Dalmatia County, and the City of Split. The role of the French State Council deserves a special mention since being the highest administrative judiciary in the Republic of France also plays an important role as the advisory board to the French government.

Systematic and argumentative discussions presented at these conferences and the subsequent papers published in special editions of the Faculty of Law of the University of Split Journal are valuable scientific papers and a significant contribution to the education of new generations and academics as well as experts in administrative law and wider.
