New undergraduate program at the University of Split - Communication and Media

University of Split finally received a permit from the Ministry of Science and Education for the undergraduate study Communication and Media. This study will last for three years, completing it one obtains 180 ECTS points, and first students are already enrolling the 2022/23 academic year.

- Such a new and modern study of journalism offers the necessary know-how for work in increasingly diverse and dispersed media newsrooms and with numerous applications, as well as many information and communication platforms – they say at the University.

Enrollment quota for the first year of undergraduate university study in the academic year 2022/23., for Croatian and other EU members’ citizens who passed the ‘state matura’ examination, is 25.

They emphasize that local and regional media, associations and communities have expressed interest in establishing the proposed study program, as well as partnership in its realization. In addition to modern courses, students will have many practical classes, which we have already covered.

- Numerous partner institutions and companies outside the academic sector have expressed an interest in the study program. Among them are local government units, primarily cities Split and Kaštela, as well as the Split-Dalmatia County. Potential partners are numerous public institutions, professional organizations and associations dedicated to promoting media culture, freedom of informing the public and credibility associated with it. Cooperation with numerous broadcasters and publishers of different profiles and reach, from local to national ones, has been established or is planned Also support and contributions from large companies’ media and information services is also being counted on - vice-rectors prof. Where will these students be able to find employment? At the University, they expect in public and state institutions with departments creating and implementing media policy and strategy, which regulate the media sector - in Croatia, these are primarily Ministry of Culture and the Agency for Electronic Media.

After completing the undergraduate study Communication and Media, it is possible to enroll numerous graduate studies in Croatia and abroad, in social sciences and humanities.
