UNIST Career Speed Dating 2023, a special combination of speed dating and job interviews, organized by University of Split’s Career Management Office and Department of Professional Studies was held March 9 in University of Split’s SPINIT incubator.

Students had the opportunity to present themselves to employers in 5 to 8 minutes and receive feedback on impressions they make and ways to improve.

- In addition to introducing myself to employers, I also learned what a working day in a company really looks like, what are possibilities for jobs I can perform at the beginning and how I can move forward - Laura, a student in university graduate study of Management, Trade and Tourism at the Department for Professional Studies, told us about her experience.

On behalf of University of Split, the event was opened by Vice-rector for infrastructure, prof. Nikša Jajac Ph.D. and head of University Department for Professional Studies, Petar Pepur Ph.D., together with head of Career Management Office, Antonia Peroš.

- I like to point out that sometimes one gram of practice is more valuable than a ton of theory. Students today acquired basic skills of business communication and conversations with employers. In this way, they gain real experience, establish contacts and create possibilities for employment. We do not just take care of the educational system, in some way we also manage our students’ careers, and that is exactly the goal of this event - head Pepur concluded.

- We met enthusiastic young people who are ready to learn and gain practical experience, develop their potential. For us, this was an opportunity to reach out to potential employees, because our company’s active goal is to recruit as many educated people as possible and develop their skills, and opportunities like this are ideal for that – said Antonio Miličević from Deltron d.o.o. He also revealed "secrets" of how to present yourself to employers in the best light - being authentic, showing enthusiasm and desire to work.
