University of Split received the Healthy Campus certificate

The University of Split received the Healthy Campus certification label, awarded as recognition for improving quality of life on university campuses and, by achieving the set criteria, University of Split is ranked alongside well-known world universities regarding quality of student life.

At the end of May, the International Federation of University Sports (FISU) granted 43 universities involved in the Healthy Campus program with certification labels. 18 of them received the Platinum label, the highest level of certification. The award ceremony, first of its kind, took place at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Vice Rector Tomislav Kilić received this valuable but also binding certificate on behalf of University of Split.

- FISU’s project Healthy Campus is an initiative aiming to improve the well-being of students in all aspects of their lives and to establish an interdisciplinary system dedicated to well-being, healthy lifestyle and student awareness of these aspects. Achieving the set criteria, University of Split is ranked alongside well-known world universities regarding students’ quality of life. I would especially like to thank our Department for student standard and sports, who worked hard in order to achieve this valuable recognition," prof. Kilić said.

"I am really glad we were able to fulfill the basic criteria for obtaining the first certificate, I am sure that we will fulfill all the other International Sports Federation’s criteria and that we will also be granted Healthy Campus’ Platinum label – said Toni Gamulin, Head of University of Split’s Department for Student Standards and sports.

It is important to emphasize that there are well-known world universities such as those from Beijing, Porto and Coimbra that already have Platinum Certificates and can be our guideline in different segments. University of Split’s internal goal is, by participating in this project, to influence the development of other segments of student standard within existing activities, in this case university sports. By implementing these criteria, the University sets a world standard in elements of student life in Split and, with its activities, positions itself firmly on international rankings.
