With a view over Split 3, city within city, a place of urban democracy, University of Split’s Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy even with its location belongs to top architectural thought.

The Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy, University of Split (FGAG) is a higher education institution that started operating in the autumn of 1971 as University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Civil Engineering - Split Department. It began working independently at the beginning of 1977, and became an independent higher education organization performing scientific research in July 1991, when it separated from the Civil Engineering Institute. During these 50 years, the institution developed into Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy with seven study programs of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate studies.

STUDY PROGRAMS:

Civil Engineering

Undergraduate University Study of Civil Engineering

The undergraduate university study of Civil Engineering is performed entirely at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy in Split and lasts for three academic years (or six semesters).

Completing the undergraduate university study of Civil Engineering, one acquires the academic title or becomes Bachelor civil engineer.

Graduate University Study of Civil Engineering

The graduate university study of Civil Engineering is performed entirely at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy in Split and lasts for two academic years (or four semesters).

Completing the graduate university study of Civil Engineering, one acquires the academic title Master of Civil Engineering.

Graduate university study of Civil Engineering has four specializations:

• General direction

• Structural modelling

• Constructions

• Hydraulic engineering

Postgraduate (Ph.D.) university study Civil Engineering

The postgraduate (Ph.D.) university study of Civil Engineering is performed entirely at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy in Split.

Completing the postgraduate university study of Civil Engineering, one acquires a doctorate (Ph.D.) of technical sciences.

Undergraduate professional study Civil Engineering

The undergraduate professional study of Civil Engineering is performed entirely at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy in Split and lasts for three academic years (six semesters).

Completing the undergraduate professional study of Civil Engineering, one acquires the professional title Bachelor civil engineer.

Study program Architecture and Urbanism

Undergraduate University Study of Architecture and Urbanism

The undergraduate university study of Architecture is performed entirely at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy in Split, with the participation of Faculty professors and other University of Split’s higher education institutions, other universities in the Republic of Croatia as well as visiting professors from other university, and lasts for three years (or six semesters).

Completing the undergraduate university study of Architecture, one acquires the academic title Bachelor Engineer of Architecture.

Graduate University Study of Architecture and Urbanism

Graduate university study of Architecture is performed entirely at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy in Split, with the participation of Faculty professors and other University of Split’s higher education institutions, other universities in the Republic of Croatia as well as visiting professors from other university, and lasts for two years (or four semesters).

Completing the graduate university study of Architecture, one acquires the academic title Master of Architecture.

Study program Geodesy and Geo-informatics

The undergraduate university study Geodesy and Geo-informatics is performed entirely at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy, University of Split and lasts for three academic years (six semesters). Completing the undergraduate university study of Geodesy and Geo-informatics, the academic title Bachelor Engineer.

Summer school

The Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy, University of Split, organizes a summer school performed in English, which consists of various programs in the fields of civil engineering, architecture and geodesy.

Its goal is to provide students and young professionals from different countries with the experience of multicultural and interdisciplinary learning in one of the programs and the possibility of establishing cooperation with other students and lecturers.

- The Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy is part of University of Split’s family that, according to Times Higher Education 2021, occupied a place between 801-1000 on the world universities’ ranking list and was, for the first time, the only Croatian university ranked in 10 out of 17 sustainable development goals, which ranks it among top 4% in the world.

- The Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy is implementing the INFRA Project - implementation of modern scientific research infrastructure, to smart specialization in green and energy efficient construction, which helped build and equip 11 research laboratories.

- Faculty implements a number of projects for the Croatian Science Foundation as well as Interreg cross-border cooperation projects.

- FGAG also implements the European Social Fund’s project PRAGUE - first step in a career, which deals with future of civil engineering, improving existing and developing new jobs, as well as implementing traineeships at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy, University of Split.

- FGAG students participate in a number of creative projects, such as redesigning the club Kocka in the Youth Centre, according to a concept based on their own choice of music, redesigning the Photo Club Split or the exhibition "Architecture and Urbanism" at ‘Vasko Lipovac’ University Gallery and many more…

- At the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy you can participate in international workshops. Some of them are: architectural workshop "SYMMETRIES", organized by ORIS HOUSE of Architecture, with participation of students and professors from ETSA Madrid and FGAG Split; the International Student Workshop "Little Croatia", held in Krakow, that aimed to offer the best landscape-urban solution for the theme park "Little Croatia"; workshop and competition called "Spaghetti Bridges 2018", organized by FGAG’s Student Union, in cooperation with Association SGFOS and the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Osijek’s Student Union.

- Field classes are regularly held at FGAG and you can see a few of them on following links: Karlovac - Zagreb - Petrinja, Neretva Valley, Dalmatia Tower, visit to the construction site of the Peljesac Bridge

- Since 1988, FGAG has been publishing the International Journal for Engineering Modelling.

- FGAG has many bilateral agreements on cooperation in the field of scientific and professional projects, as well as student and teaching staff exchanges and, like other University of Split components, participates in implementing ERASMUS+ program activities.

- FGAG is recognizable for its high standards in scientific research, teaching and artistic work as well as its impact on society’s technological and cultural development.

- The knowledge and skills acquired at FGAG provide students the opportunity to build their careers, in both their hometown and the rest of the world, in range of occupations necessary for the development of the society that we live in.
