Sustainable development goals

Through its teaching, research, public events and activities, the University of Split contributes to the social and economic well-being of our community.

In the Strategy of the University of Split 2021-2025., we emphasized sustainability as one of our key development principles. The University's commitment to achieving sustainability through education, research and development, partnerships, community activities and responsible business is also visible through the presentation of our contribution to global sustainable development goals.

The 17 sustainable development goals, adopted by the United Nations in 2015, are a call for action to overcome the greatest challenges to humanity and our planet, and to ensure worldwide peace and prosperity by 2030.

On this site, we will strive to showcase most of our initiatives and activities that contribute to each of the sustainable development goals. In this way, we want to make our work more visible, and at the same time encourage our students, employees and the wider community to meet the sustainable development goals.

Any employee and/or student activity that contributes to the sustainable development goals that is not visible on this site, can be reported to sdg@unist.hr.

With the aim of exchanging good practices with other universities, promoting and increasing the visibility of sustainable activities, the University of Split has been participating in the Times Higher Education Impact ranking since 2019. In 2020, we collected evidence for 10 of the 17 global development goals, while in 2021 we expanded that to all goals. At the same time, we prepared the first Sustainability Report for 2020.
