The University Gallery is located in the heart of the University Campus, in the building of the Rectorate and the University Library in Split, and represents an impressive exhibition space on two floors.
The Gallery is a place of open cultural content in which it exhibits works of contemporary visual art. In addition to annual program exhibitions, this is a place of various events from book promotions, scientific conferences, plays, concerts, workshops, domestic and international meetings as well as press conferences. Goals of the University Gallery primarily aim at bringing art closer to the student population, but also enriching the local art scene with quality exhibitions, programs and collaborations as well as providing opportunities for affirmation of younger artists, all for the purpose of our orientation in realizing pedagogical, educational and artistic tasks. The Gallery’s annual program is carefully prepared.
Long-term cooperation has been agreed with the Brešan Gallery in Split, which in our annual program offers two exhibitions from the cycle "Everyone on their side", and enriches the program with excellence of selected works of contemporary art from Croatia and beyond. Splitgraphic International Biennial has become our Gallery’s unavoidable event that brings variety and diversity to our space, as well as world’s award-winning contemporary graphic production.
Under its expert guidance, the Gallery also organizes educational workshops, as University of Split and its components’ gift to our county’s children, pupils and students. When they visit, we introduce them to University Library’s content as well as the written heritage the library keeps in its archive.
Members of the Gallery’s Visual Arts Expert Council are prof. Kažimir Hraste, assoc. prof. Edvin Dragičević, Ana Radić Bizjak, B.Sc. restorer/conservator.
