Grand opening of the 30th International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA 30) conference took place on Wednesday, September 24th, in the Three Faculties Building’s large amphitheatre, at Faculty of Maritime Studies that also organized and hosted the event.
Opening speeches to conference participants were given by Dean, prof. Ivan Peronja Ph.D., University of Split’s Vice-rector, prof. Nikša Jajac Ph.D., and prof. Alison Noble Ph.D., IMLA’s Honorary President.
This year's conference featured several interesting sessions, workshops, and panel discussions, providing an excellent opportunity for professional development, networking and collaboration. Additionally, IMLA30 hosted three specialized subcommittees: International Conference of Lecturers on Navigation Simulators (INSLC23), International Conference on Marine Engineering Simulators (ICERS17), and International Conference on Maritime English (IMEC35), each focused on a specific aspect of maritime education and training, enabling deeper discussions and targeted networking opportunities.
Among the participants were numerous experts from various fields, including prof. Maximo Q. Mejia Jr., PhD, President of World Maritime University (Malmö, Sweden), Takeshi Nakazawa Ph.D., Director of International Association of Maritime Universities, Ivan Kraemer Ph.D., representative of Germany’s Ministry of Economy, Ports, and Transformation (Bremen) and many others.
