Students and alumni gathered in OSSINJAK association, together with students from the Career Skills course, organized the first Alumni Talks at University of Split’s Department of Professional Studies.
I believe that the task of our Department, and of every higher education institution, is to retain this valuable asset, in the form of alumni, and to provide them with space for connection, cooperation, and socializing. Our former students are now successful professionals, entrepreneurs, and experts who often have a strong desire to help young people and give back some of their experience to the community from which they came - said Senka Borovac Zekan, course leader of Career Skills.
During numerous travels and collaborations achieved through Erasmus+ mobility, she said, she had the opportunity to see how students are educated at European higher education institutions through concrete projects, practical assignments, and cooperation with the business community. Such an approach allows students to develop independence, responsibility, communication, and organizational skills in real-life situations, as well as gain confidence and security needed in the labor market. These experiences were an additional motivation for her to try to implement a similar learning model at our Department.
According to her, organizing real events provides students with the best form of learning.
Working on real projects, students immediately apply theoretical knowledge in practice - she emphasizes, noting that students organized this panel with great enthusiasm.
At the first panel, former Department’s students participated, who are now successful entrepreneurs, including Sanja Tadić, co-founder of the brand Laveo, Toni Sokolov from Sokol Media Marketing, and Ivan Anđelić from Anđelić real estate.
