Ceremonial reception of first generation of Mediterranean Agronomy students took place on December 2nd in University of Split’s Senate Hall.

The study of agronomy opens doors to diverse and promising opportunities in the sector which is base of every society - agriculture. We asked Martina Tadić, first-year student in Master study of Mediterranean Agronomy, about her reasons for choosing this field of study:

"I decided on Master's in Mediterranean Agronomy because I own an olive grove, and my love for nature, the Mediterranean, and Dalmatia called me to embark on this path. The faculty provides both theory and practice, which is invaluable for my work. The greatest advantage of this study are our professors. They are very friendly and not just authority figures, available to us even outside classes" - she said.

A few words about the program were shared by Prof. Frane Strikić Ph.D., Head of Master study of Mediterranean Agronomy.

"According to the program we have designed, the enrolment quota for the Master's in Mediterranean Agronomy is 20 students, and this year we enrolled 16. This is majority, which shows that there is no lack of interest. With the recently obtained permit for conducting the Master study, lasting two years and worth 120 ECTS credits, our students - completing the study - get the degree Master of Mediterranean Agricultural Sciences.
Modern agriculture is unimaginable without specialized knowledge and practical experience that my colleagues and I pass on to the students. It is outdated and absurd to think that agricultural production is based solely on basic tools such as picks and spades. Modern agriculture requires expert knowledge, technology, and innovation. In the global context that exists today, food production must be a priority for every country. We have the opportunity to improve Croatian agriculture with this study program, and we believe that it is an extremely important step towards ensuring quality and competitive production in both domestic and international markets,"
concluded prof. Frane Strikić Ph.D.
