Exhibition of works by Academy of Arts (UMAS) students, Department of Sculpture, entitled K.I.P. 4 was officially opened on May 2, 2024 at University Gallery. This is fourth such exhibition, which aims to promote quality sculpture done at UMAS, as well as bring artistic achievements and our students’ contributions closer to the public. Judging by the audience’s high interest, both goals were successfully achieved.
Presenting the exhibition, Božo Kesić Ph.D. pointed out its ability to reflect time, layering and materiality embedded in the history of that artistic medium, and creative worldview:
- Among these authors, I notice a deep-rooted interest in everyday and universal topics, but which they explore with their own viewpoints. Their artistic expression clearly shows deep respect for the work of their predecessors.
Academy of Arts in Split Dean, assoc. prof. art. Miona Miliša Ph.D. opened the exhibition not hiding how honoured she is to have the opportunity to participate in educating students in the field of art, since it carries great honour and responsibility:
- I feel great pride that our students have the opportunity to exhibit at University Gallery for two important reasons: firstly, that we have exhibited our students’ sculptures in the heart of Campus, where they can be seen and appreciated by other students from other University of Split components. Secondly, public display of their work completes their artistic process allowing them to share their stories and visions with the public.
Students: Anamarija Aničić Kahrić, Jasmina Barbarić, Marija Bare, Ivana Čerina, Marijeta Dominović, Vid Grgas, Jelena Jurčević, Nikola Jurišić, Lana Leonie Kandija Husić, Karmen Livaja (Bušić), Ivana Mandić, Pia Midžor, Petra Perković, Tara Schwarz, Danijela Skokandić, Roko Tomić, Tajana Veljačić and Lona Vesović exhibited their works, while authors of the exhibition concept were Head of Sculpture Department, assoc. art. Grand opening of the exhibition K.I.P.4 was also enriched by an exceptional musical performance by young talented student of Academy of Arts’ Music Department, Ivan Zvonimir Stejskal. On his guitar, Ivan performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s Prelude BWV 998, which created a magical atmosphere that added to the evening.
Moderating the exhibition was entrusted to experienced University Gallery’s manager, Helena Trze Jakelić, who contributed to the solemnity of the event.
