The grand opening of the international scientific conference Croatian-French Administrative Law Days took place on September 18th at MedILS.
The Croatian-French Administrative Law Days conference has been taking place since 2007 and this year, its main theme is "Control over Public Administration." Organizers are Faculty of Law in Split, University Pantheon-Assas - Paris II, University of Split, State Council of the French Republic, Croatian Government’s Office for Legislation, Republic of Croatia’s High Administrative Court, "Robert Schuman" Centre for European Documentation and Research (Split), with the support of Croatia’s Constitutional Court, French Embassy in Croatia, Split-Dalmatia County, and the City of Split. The conference is also under the patronage of ministries of Justice, Administration and Digital Transformation and that of Science, Education and Youth.
"The University of Split is a proud member of the Maritime Universities Alliance, a European network connecting nine universities and strengthening cooperation in education, research, and student mobility. Our connection with French and other European universities confirms that Split plays an important role in the European academic area,” Rector Dragan Ljutić stated in his welcoming speech, emphasizing that University of Split achieved exceptional international success on the WURI global ranking, ranked among the top 100 universities, occupying the high 79th place. A special recognition was awarded in the category of student mobility, where the Split university comes first worldwide.
Dean Ratko Brnabić mentioned that this conference combines the best in theory and practice, in the field of administrative law, and provides knowledge for everyone’s benefit, and therefore will always have the support of the Faculty of Law in its organization. A similar note of support was given by Vice-rector of Pantheon-Assas - Paris II, Cecile Guerin-Bargues, pointing out that their institution is glad to participate in this event, a place of fruitful dialogue between Croatian and French legal experts and officials.
According to ministers Radovan Fuchs and Damir Habijan, the strength of this event lies in the fact that it enables mutual exchange of opinions, from which new solutions emerge that will improve the system of public administration. This is an excellent example of cooperation between two friendly countries, where knowledge is exchanged with the aim of improving existing practices.
