The program of subsidizing student accommodation, entitled "First Key", was presented on December 4th in University of Split’s Senate hall, at a press conference. The initiative was discussed by Split-Dalmatia County Mayor, Blaženko Boban, University of Split Rector, Prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., Director of Student Centre, Ivan Žižić, and President of University of Split’s Student Council, Jerko Šarić. The conference was also attended by students for whom this type of subsidy will be of great significance.

-"Last year, we subsidized nearly 270 students, securing 120,000 euros for ten months of study. This year, we plan to support up to 450 students through a public call, for which we will allocate 180,000 euros from County’s budget," said Mayor Boban, adding that the goal of this measure is to ease monthly expenses for young people and their families, as well as to contribute to demographic policy.

-"We are continuing with our main mission, the fight and care for students, as they are always our top priority. Our University remains committed to providing maximum support to students, continuing to build quality education and better conditions for study. The slogan 'Students, students, students' continues to guide us in everything we do," said Rector Ljutić, pointing out that University of Split is the only university that has, this year, enrolled more students than last year.

Split Student Council played a significant role in realizing this idea, having initiated this additional subsidy program.

-"With this subsidy, we have covered everyone who needs help, with the hope that it will go on until a new student dormitory is built," said Jerko Šarić, Student Council President, adding that the Program ‘First Key’ is a step towards better conditions of study and supporting all students who are facing the challenge of private accommodations.
