The most joyous event this year at University Gallery is undoubtedly grand opening of the exhibition "Windows to the World of Art - in Marulić’ Books." The exhibition showcases a total of 147 pupils’ works submitted as part of the art competition organized to commemorate the 500th anniversary of death of Marko Marulić, the father of Croatian literature.

"This project has been running for the second year, with a different theme each time. The importance of this project lies not only in artistic expression but also in educating children about their history and helping them learn more about their identity, the heritage of our County and, of course, whole Croatia," said Head of University Gallery, Helena Trze Jakelić, announcing that the exhibition would remain open until December 10.

In the category of elementary schools, best work was by Rina Dobrić, a 7th-grade, from Meje Elementary School, mentored by Ivana Antunović. Among secondary schools, first place was awarded to Karmen Rogač, 3rd-grade, from IV. Gymnasium ‘Marko Marulić’, mentored by Marina Tariba. In students’ category, the best work was by Anamarija Aničić Kahrić from Split Academy of Arts.

Each category also had second and third places awarded. Along with first-place winners, prizes were also presented to Tina Lisica and Luljeta Bajraj, elementary schools, Jana Tomić and Nika Smuđa, secondary schools, and students Pija Midžor and Maja Pranjić were also recognized. The awards were presented during the celebration of University of Split’s Day, on June 13, 2024, to students and their mentors.
