Lecture "ERC Grants and Open Science"

In Faculty of Maritime Studies’ Planetarium, on October 31, 2025, a lecture titled "ERC Grants and Open Science" was given by assoc. prof. Jadranka Šepić Ph.D. from Faculty of Science, University of Split, and European Research Council for Croatia’s ambassador.

Participants gained a more detailed understanding of ERC’s structure and functioning, as an independent agency that funds excellent European research, within the Horizon Europe program. Prof. Šepić introduced various types of ERC grants, including Starting, Consolidator, Advanced, Synergy, and Proof of Concept Grants, emphasizing the importance of scientific excellence, researcher independence and transparency in open science.

Participants also got insights into submitting applications, evaluation criteria, current news and changes in European calls for 2026, including the extension of eligibility period for applying to Starting and Consolidator grants, as well as additional funding available for excellent researchers.
