Marina Tolić’ exhibition, titled

Goals

  • Cilj 11

The exhibition presents author’s latest graphic and painting works, created over last three years, which represent a logical sequel to her long-term research and creative artistic journey. Using modern technologies such as iPad, Marina Tolić retains classical approach to painting, exploring relationships between shapes, colours, and their interrelations.

Assoc. prof. Tonći Šitin Ph.D., among other things, stated:

"Few families, and I am not just speaking of Split or Croatia, that emerged from humble conditions gifted the world so many artists and so much art. The exhibition before you is not result of a quick tidying up of the studio, nor rummaging through old paintings with new annotations; it is the result of long work and contemplation, maturation where it is difficult to draw a line between tangible and intangible, a reflection in a time that is not stylistically homogeneous, rather traversed with a series of controversial ideas, forms, and worldviews."

Margarita Sveštarov Šimat, art historian and author of exhibition's preface introduced the author:

"Marina Tolić is a great surprise, both for me and for others. First of all, she lived in Paris for years. She came here and presented herself boldly, with a large cycle, multi-layered in both its content and creative process. These can rightly be called paintings that provoke. Paintings that Nietzsche calls: 'Those that wish to be loved.'"

In a festive atmosphere, University of Split’s vice-rector, prof. Nikša Jajac Ph.D., thanked the author, guests, exhibition organizers and formally opened it.

Organization and exhibition moderation: Helena Trze Jakelić, head of University Gallery.

The exhibition is open until February 15, 2025.
