The SEA-EU Alliance rectors' meeting took place at University of Split on January 19-20, 2026, bringing together rectors and their delegations from partner universities to discuss strategic goals and development of the Alliance.
The program began on Monday, January 19, with arrival of participants and welcome dinner prepared as part of Science Comes to Town at Lvxor. During the dinner, 6th anniversary of the SEA-EU Alliance was also celebrated. Since all rectors were gathered in one place, this provided an excellent opportunity for a joint celebration.
University of Split’s Rector, prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., addressed the guests, thanking all partners for excellent cooperation and emphasizing that the SEA-EU Alliance represents one big family. The evening concluded with cake cutting and ceremonial toast.
Attending the meeting were rectors: prof. Antonio Garofalo, University of Naples Parthenope; prof. Hanne Solheim Hansen, University of Nord (Bodø); Vice-Rector Ralph Schneider, University of Kiel; prof. Pascal Olivard, University of Brest; prof. Alfred J. Vella, University of Malta; prof. Casimiro Mantell, University of Cádiz; and prof. Alexandra Teodosio, University of Algarve (Faro). Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, University of Gdańsk, participated online.
On Tuesday, January 20, rectors' meeting continued with discussions focused on strategic priorities, SEA-EU Alliance’s development, and the long-term vision. It concluded with lunch at the restaurant Adriatic, marking the end of this brief but significant gathering for the Alliance, with reaffirmed commitment to continued cooperation and achieving shared goals.
It was a great pleasure to host you in Split!
