Arranging and equipping HR-ZOO’s data center in Split is completed

Prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., University of Split’s Rector, and Ivan Marić, director of the University of Zagreb’s Computing Centre (Srce), signed the Agreement on managing and using HR-ZOO’s Data Centre.

"University of Split has been successfully cooperating with ‘Srce’ for years, and cooperation in the project Croatian Scientific and Educational Cloud (HR-ZOO) is of strategic importance for the University and its components. Putting the data center in Split into operation, with its dual role, national and university, creates prerequisites to reduce costs in the University's ICT infrastructure and necessary spatial conditions for University's digital transition," added Rector, prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., pointing out that the Data Centre in Split is one of HR-ZOO’s five data centers that will, along with network connectivity, top-quality computer and storage resources, together with scientific tools, represent fundamental element of HR-ZOO's national e-infrastructure, which will certainly contribute to the overall development of Croatia’s educational system.

The data center is equipped with numerous complex technical systems ensuring safe data storage and its availability to users 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

"Works on HR-ZOO ST’s data center were successfully completed, although they were complex and took place during this challenging time, the supply chain crisis and COVID-19 pandemic. On this occasion, I would like to thank our hosts, employees and students of University of Split’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Shipbuilding, for their patience and understanding for all activities that took place during these works, as well as all participants who, with their professionalism, work and engagement, contributed to their successful end", Ivan Marić concluded.
