In the last decade, we are witnessing the accelerated development of open science and numerous initiatives that strive to make the entire research process and research activities as transparent as possible. This is why it is important to discuss the future of open science, its advantages, issues still to be discusses and possible improvements. In this context, University of Split, as part of reSEArch-EU project, together with partner universities in the SEA-EU Alliance, launched a joint initiative promoting open science through the work of SEA-EU Open Science ambassadors.

With that in mind, reSEArch-EU organized a lecture on "Introduction to open science". The lecture in Split’s School of Medicine large amphitheater was attended by over 80 participants, who had the opportunity to learn what open science is, how the project developed and why is it important to the scientific community and society in general.

Ivan Buljan Ph.D., SEA-EU open science ambassador gave the lecture, emphasizing in the introduction the importance of this movement in transparent dissemination of knowledge and greater participation of society in scientific processes. The materials used in the lecture came from the joint effort of Ivan Buljan Ph.D., Mirko Gabelica MD Ph.D., and other members in the reSEArch-EU project.

Ivan Buljan Ph.D. presented elements of open science to the participants, importance of the FAIR principle (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, Reuse) in using research data and he further emphasized the meaning and importance of preregistering scientific research.
