January 21-23, 2026, the Observatory of Migration and Human Rights (OMHR) at University of Split hosted the international Staff Week titled “Migration and Sustainable Development Goals 2030,” organized in the framework of SEA-EU European University Alliance. The event brought together representatives of partner universities, researchers, and educators with the aim of strengthening collaboration, exchanging knowledge, and jointly reflecting on future activities in the field of migration and human rights.

Staff Week’s program focused on the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which recognizes migration as important component of sustainable development. Particular emphasis was placed on the principle “Leaving No One Behind,” which served as common framework for discussions about human rights of migrants, social inclusion and institutional responsibility.

During the meeting, results of OMHR’s work to date and its increasingly prominent role within the SEA-EU alliance were presented, through an interdisciplinary approach and including young researchers and Ph.D. candidates. Participants discussed strategic priorities for the upcoming period, including strengthening impact assessments, improving dissemination activities beyond academia, establishing stronger links with public policymakers, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability.

A special part of the program was dedicated to planning future activities, among which are the organization of an Annual International Forum, publication of results from previous forums, and launching monthly online seminars, which will start September 2026, in collaboration with SEA-EU partner universities.

OMHR Staff Week in Split confirmed the importance of international and interdisciplinary cooperation and further strengthened Observatory of Migration and Human Rights’ role as a relevant platform for research, dialogue, and knowledge exchange concerning migration and human rights within the SEA-EU European University Alliance.
