The panel, held on Tuesday, March 25th, in Faculty’s packed amphitheatre in Split, began with Roko Mrvica from Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure presenting fundamentals of the system for sailors. This was followed by a roundtable discussion with experts in various fields: Željko Meštrović from Croatian Employment Service, Irena Škrobica and Hrvoje Zebić from Croatian Pension Insurance Institute, Gordana Baričević and Anita Jerončić from Croatian Health Insurance Institute, who clarified doubts and provided relevant information about current changes in the system.
Assoc. prof. Ivan Peronja Ph.D., Faculty’s dean, welcomed attendees who expressed his hope to this higher education institution celebrating 65 years of its existence:
-"Faculty’s administration aims to develop this education and teaching component through various socially responsible activities,” Dean Peronja said, emphasizing that today’s panel contributes to those efforts, so that the Faculty of Maritime Studies continues to develop and open itself to society and local community.
Vana Bosto from the Croatian Sailors' Union, who moderated the event, pointed out the need for organizing this panel, considering that Union’s core activity is facilitating sailors’ journey.
