A ceremonial awarding of Dean's Prizes for promoting rights to inclusive education for students with disabilities took place at Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics for 2025.
Awarded students contributed significantly to their colleagues with difficulties through the Peer Support Project, designed to assist students with disabilities and chronic or temporary health issues in their studies. The project does not interfere with other rights related to personal assistance and is based on volunteer work, without financial rewards or additional ECTS credits.
Increase in Project Participants
In the academic year 2024/25, 36 students from various fields, from mathematics and informatics to biology, chemistry, and physics, actively participated in the Peer Support Project. Through this project, they provided learning assistance to 21 students with disabilities or temporary health challenges, without any fees or additional ECTS credits.
Results are nothing short of impressive: recipients of support passed a total of 107 exams, which amounts to 570 ECTS credits, averaging 27 ECTS per student. 48% of students receiving support met the standard set by Ministry of Science, which grants students with disabilities the right to a subsidy of 30 ECTS.
"I am very happy that this initiative is progressing, growing, and will continue in the coming years," said assoc. prof. Gordan Radobolja, project leader. Alongside him, the project is run by Zrinka Ružić, head of Student Services and Commissioner for Students with Disabilities, and assoc. prof. Nikola Marangunić, Vice Dean for Social Responsibility and Collaboration with Economy.
