Most important moments from foundation to the present are gathered in the monograph 'Half a century of the University of Split'. It was presented in front of numerous guests on June 11, in the Milesi palace, by co-authors, Rector prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., Prof. emeritus Matko Marušić and academic Kažimir Hraste, head of Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts’ Institute for Scientific and Artistic Work in Split.
In the presentation, Rector Ljutić emphasized that this is a modern, easy to read, accessible book with a lot of information, accompanied by beautiful photos and graphs. It is not, according to him, too extensive to be actually read.
"Everyone who picks it up can see where University of Split was and where it is today, which associations we are interested in, who we cooperate with." For example, it shows that the object of our interest is the maritime university, consisting of nine universities at sea - from Norway, Malta and Spain, to our Split. We have good ranking among world universities, they all have great respect for Split, both small and large ones want to cooperate with us - for example, we signed a contract with Humboldt University. The book is about that and we are proud of it,' he said.
This monograph, as well as the one prepared for 45th anniversary in 2019, was designed by prof. Emeritus Matko Marušić - scientist, writer and editor.
'The most important thing to point out is that University of Split appears on all lists of most prestigious universities in the world. It is in charge of education and our intellectual growth. Many do not know that it has impressive 206 teaching programs, excellent international cooperation, plenty of top-quality equipment. There is too little learning in the whole world, our goal should be to consolidate old studies. I am satisfied with the direction University of Split is heading and this book shows it beautifully,' prof. Marušić stated.
