European Commission and Mies van der Rohe Foundation announced the shortlist for the EUmies Awards 2026. Out of 410 nominated works, an international jury led by Smiljan Radić, with members: Carl Bäckstranda, Chris Briffa, Zaiga Gaile, Tina Gregorič, Nikolaus Hirsch, and Rosa Rull, selected projects that made it to the end of this prestigious European recognition.

Among 40 projects from across Europe selected for finals, there are two architectural achievements from Croatia, created by local architects, both of whom are professors at Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Geodesy (FGAG) in Split: Hrvoje Njirić and Dinko Peračić. This further confirms the strong role of Split’s academic architectural scene on the European stage.

Chosen projects are located in 36 cities across 18 countries, ranging from large urban centres to small communities, highlighting the rich diversity of contemporary European architecture — emphasize EUmies Awards organizers.

In the shortlist, Croatia is represented by Double Villa Bukovac in Zagreb, designed by architect Hrvoje Njirić, a professor of FGAG’s Department of Architectural Design, and his colleague Iskra Filipović, as well as Gruž Market in Dubrovnik, created by Dinko Peračić, also professor in the Department, and Miranda Veljačić.
