On December 9, in a full hall of the Hotel Management and Gastronomy study program in Makarska, 27 university bachelors and seven university masters were promoted.
Vice-rector prof. Nikša Jajac Ph.D. congratulated the graduates on behalf of the University and emphasized that renovation of the study’s building, which was in a terrible condition, significantly improved quality of study. This is evident from number of students and interest in the program, indicating it was a good decision.
"You have chosen the harder path, that of knowledge. It hasn’t always been easy, but you have reached the end, and you deserve praise for it. Students who are not from Makarska have grown alongside this city as it developed. The world would be much more humane than it is today if we paid back to the community just a small amount," said prof. Vlatka Škokić Ph.D., Head of Study, reminding the graduates should never forget their Study, which will always welcome them back.
Among first generation of university masters’ graduates is Đina Bešker from Makarska, who is also first to earn the university title of Master of Hotel Management and Gastronomy in her hometown.
"Believe in your dreams and never give them up," Bešker advised, adding that diploma marks just the beginning of a new chapter. She expressed immense pride for her colleagues, professors and mentors, as well as family and friends who supported them throughout years of study.
