The Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia County, in collaboration with the Faculty of Kinesiology in Split and local tourist boards, is launching "Rediscover Play" — a chance for new generations to discover street games their parents and older siblings once played in a time before smartphones or screens.
The project was presented to University of Split's rector, Prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., by Ivana Vladović, Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia County President, and Prof. Frane Žuvela Ph.D., Faculty of Kinesiology’s Dean.
Throughout July, towns like Trogir, Supetar, Jelsa, Omiš, Sinj, and more, will become centres of games, competitions, and fun, with the event starting yesterday in Trogir.
Jelsa - July 2
Omiš - July 8
Supetar - July 9
Sinj - July 10
University of Split's Faculty of Kinesiology is participating in the GAMES PLUS project. Six institutions are involved in the project — three universities and three traditional recreational associations from Portugal, Spain, and Croatia. From each country, one representative game has been selected: Beto de Serpins for Portugal, Bèlit from Catalonia for Spain, and Pljočkanje for Croatia.
The project’s impact will be measured through data collected via a mobile app. Its dissemination will serve to raise awareness among higher education teachers and other stakeholders, aiming to bring traditional games back into society and enrich teaching of motor activities.
