Science leaves the laboratory and Comes to Town: in Diocletian's Cellars

As part of the European project Science Comes to Town, Split is opening an interactive public exhibition available to all visitors. The exhibition officially opens on Tuesday, January 20, at 12:45, and visitors will be able to visit it until 4 p.m. It then remains open every day until January 24, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Visitors will be able to learn about:

• initiatives cities Brest, Kiel and Split
• SEA-EU Alliance’s as well as projects of numerous local scientific, cultural and sports institutions
• European Commission programs
• Technical Museum "Nikola Tesla" in Zagreb’s exhibitions "Nikola Tesla - the man who gave light to the world", and multimedia exhibition "Peaks of the Deep - underwater heritage of Split-Dalmatia County".

Additionally, the accompanying exhibition "Portraits of French Scientists" will remain open until January 29 at Alliance française de Split.

Tuesday, January 20

Exhibition’s first day brings a wide range of topics - from technology and the sea to philosophy and forensics. The program also includes the philosophical experiment "Ask a Philosopher", as well as a microscopic insight into the world of liposomes.

Wednesday, January 21

Wednesday is dedicated to interactive learning and experimentation. The program includes demonstration experiments from various fields of science, workshops that encourage creative and divergent thinking, educational games for children focused on sustainable entrepreneurship and financial literacy, together with activities connecting psychology, nutrition, physical activity, and the sea.

Thursday, January 22

On Thursday, visitors can "taste and smell science" in the topics of sustainable food production, virtually visit underwater wrecks in the Adriatic, discover the mysterious world of phytoplankton, participate in an audio augmented reality of Split’s historic canter, learn about applying chemical engineering in researching fluids, etc.

Friday, January 23

Friday is marked by artificial intelligence, music, genetics and underwater technologies. Visitors can experience a VR journey through technology, participate in music workshops for children and youth, encounter humanoids and learn more about wireless communication under the sea and applied measurements in construction.

Saturday, January 24

Exhibition’s final day focuses on topics of genetics, popularization of science through technical culture, library bus activities, film contents, sailing and underwater heritage, symbolically closing the exhibition in connecting science, community and city.
