During Governing Board meeting of the SEA-EU Alliance held at the University of Kiel, June 3 to 6, nine university rectors signed a Memorandum of Understanding, officially committing to continue the alliance even after the European Commission’s funding ends.
Additionally, important agreements and scholarships were signed to support joint study programs, further strengthening the alliance’s commitment to transnational education and opportunities for students, highlighting Alliance’s significance and role in creating joint degrees and a European diploma.
University of Split’s rector, Prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., signed an agreement on collaboration for the international joint master's study program in English - Sustainability Transition for Organisations and Resilience Management (STORM). This innovative program was developed in cooperation with six European universities within the SEA-EU Alliance: universities of Brest, Malta, Cádiz, Gdansk, and Nord University.
Agreements on scholarships for the joint undergraduate study program in Sustainable Blue Economy (SeaBluE) and for MIPMAL—international joint degree program—were also signed. The SeaBlue program focuses on acquiring skills and knowledge needed to address key challenges, such as marine pollution, overfishing, and climate change, while MIPMAL was designed in collaboration with SEA-EU region’s port authorities, providing students with a unique opportunity to gain expertise and practical experience in smart port development, sustainable transport systems, and digital logistics processes.
Furthermore, University of Split’s delegation, led by Rector Ljutić, participated in meetings where strategic issues crucial for the future of our European coastal university community were discussed and decided on.
