Humanitarian race La Solidaire de Brest 2026 is organized by University of Split in cooperation with its partner, University of Brest, as part of the European alliance SEA-EU. This event, attracting increasing number of participants each year, combines sport, community, and a humanitarian cause.
Main goal of the race is to raise funds for humanitarian organizations helping those in need. This year, collected funds were intended for associations Des Étoiles dans la Mer and APF France handicap. This event is unique in its concept — every kilometre covered, whether by running, walking, cycling, or swimming, results in one euro donated.
Participants tracked their kilometres with the Strava app, allowing everyone to participate regardless of location. This digital component further expanded the event’s reach and encouraged broader community involvement.
The central event in Split took place at Žnjan Beach, in front of Amfora Hotel, where students, professors, university staff, and citizens gathered. The race started at noon, and first 100 participants received specially designed SEA-EU T-shirts, which motivated and fostered a sense of community.
La Solidaire de Brest is not just a sports event, but an example of how academic community can contribute to society. Promoting a healthy lifestyle alongside humanitarian action, this race emphasizes solidarity, international cooperation and importance of helping those in need.
