Dear PhD students,
University of Kiel opened the opportunity to participate in the workshop “Show Your Science - Advanced Presentation Skills” for all interested Ph.D. researchers in SEA-EU Alliance.
The workshop will take place in Kiel, from September 2 to 4, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, led by experienced instructors Ulf Evert and Katharine Simmons.
Workshop’s aim is to empower researchers in developing public speaking skills and effectively communicating scientific content to a broader audience, including non-scientists. Participants will learn through interactive methods how to structure engaging, clear, and convincing presentations, with an emphasis on storytelling, body language, voice and personal presentation style.
Please note that the workshop will take place in Kiel, in person. Funding options can be explored with local Erasmus+ coordinators.
Interested PhD students should apply no later than August 3, 2025, by email to Dr. Claudia Orazem at: corazem@gz.uni-kiel.de
The application should include:
• Name and surname
• Institution’s name
• Brief description of previous experience with scientific presentations (e.g., science slam, science show, or similar)
After the workshop, participants will be offered the opportunity to participate in Kiel University’s Science Show, where they will have the chance to present their presentation to a wider audience and further develop communication and presentation skills.
More information about this program is available on official website.
Additionally, to get a sense of the atmosphere and concept behind the Science Show, we recommend watching Kiel University’s promotional video.
