Strengthening European Educational Cooperation: SEA-EU Task 2.6 Meeting in Split

Goals

  • Cilj 4
  • Cilj 17
From May 27 to 29, 2026, the University of Split hosted the SEA-EU Task 2.6 meeting, bringing together legal and academic experts from partner universities in the SEA-EU Alliance. Aim of the meeting was to strengthen collaboration and develop joint legal approaches to support the implementation of educational activities and joint study programs within the Alliance.

First day of the meeting was dedicated to academic recognition. Participants discussed common definitions for mutual recognition of students' achievements, legal aspects of automatic academic recognition across different national systems, and current challenges related to recognizing educational activities within the SEA-EU Alliance. Special attention was given to recognizing joint degrees, Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), micro-credentials, and virtual educational activities.

The second day, focus was on recognizing teaching activities and mobility of teaching staff. Participants considered comparability of teaching loads among partner institutions and worked on a draft joint statement which would facilitate the recognition of teaching carried out within SEA-EU educational activities. The discussion also covered the status of students and doctoral (Ph.D.) candidates involved in joint educational programs, as well as the possibilities of using European Student Card as a common standard to support mobility and access to services at partner universities. This business-oriented day concluded with a dinner where guests enjoyed delicious food in Split’s very centre.

The final day focused on digital education and doctoral cooperation. Experts exchanged experiences on regulating e-assessment and digital exams, presenting national frameworks for implementing joint doctoral programs. These discussions contributed to further developing integrated, legally sustainable educational solutions within the SEA-EU Alliance.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for sharing experiences, strengthening cooperation, and finding common solutions to legal and administrative challenges in higher education. By bringing together experts from the entire Alliance, Task 2.6 keeps contributing to the creation of a higher-quality, more integrated European Higher Education Area.
