Promotion of the monograph "Rehabilitation and strengthening of masonry buildings" by dr. h. c. Berislav Borovina, founder and owner of SPEGRA, took place June 19 at Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy in Split.
In a unique display of selected buildings and carefully arranged segments of works, an insight into methods and technologies of rehabilitating and strengthening masonry buildings is provided. Although called a monograph, this publication in the form of a textbook provides an interesting and systematic insight into methods and technologies of rehabilitating and strengthening masonry structures.
The monograph was presented by the author Berislav Borovina, University of Split’s honorary Ph.D., and Radoslav Bužančić Ph.D., head of Split’s Conservation Department, architect and urban planner. Prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., University of Split’s rector and assoc. prof. Nikola Grgić Ph.D., FGAG’s vice dean for science, innovation and international relations, made an introductory address and spoke about the importance of this book
An important aspect of this monograph is its humanitarian note, because SPEGRA’s owner decided to donate all proceeds from the sale to Split’s Poor Clares (Order of Saint Clare) for the renovation of their monastery in Pojišan.
He pointed out that this monastery and Poor Clare sisters, who took care of it and maintained it all this time, are extremely important for Split and its history.
