As part of the SEA-EU alliance, Martina Milat Ph.D., senior assistant at FGAG’s (Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy) Department of Organization and Construction Economics, had the opportunity to participate in the International Staff Week, organized by University of Cádiz (UCA), which hosted the event.
The program titled "Empowering International Researchers through European Funding Opportunities" was aimed at postdoc researchers. Over three intensive working days, there were lectures, participant presentations, and experience exchanges. Goal of the program was to familiarize researchers with opportunities of applying to European projects, especially within ERC and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). Additional value of this event was networking among researchers, opening doors for future collaborations and development of international project proposals.
Some of topics presented included:
• "Opening Doors to European Research Opportunities"
• "Experiences and Success Stories in MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships"
• "On the Evaluation of MSCA-PF proposals"
• "Why Good Ideas Don't Get Funded"
As part of the Staff Week, there was a tour of Cádiz historic centre, visit to La Esperanza saltworks, and a short course on basic Spanish phrases.
Overall, the mobility was really inspiring and useful. During the three days filled with activities, 28 postdoc researchers from 18 different universities exchanged knowledge, established new contacts, and gained opportunity for international visibility.
Something more about the application process for this SEA-EU call, insights, and practical tips from this exchange will be presented on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Geodesy in Split, classroom C4.
