THE SPLITECH CONFERENCE’S SIXTH EDITION

The sixth edition of the SpliTech conference on smart and sustainable technologies took place in a hybrid form, from September 8 to 11. 2021, and brought together eminent scientists and experts from the academic community.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (FESB) in Split organized the sixth International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies SpliTech 2021 that accepted over 150 scientific papers from over 30 countries.

Eminent scientists and experts from the academic community, business and public institutions came together in order to exchange knowledge in the field of Internet of Things (IoT), smart city, energy and engineering modeling, and e-health. The reason for the large interest is certainly IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), SpliTech conference's technical co-sponsor, world's most influential association for promoting scientific and professional work in fields of electrical engineering and computing.

From the rich program, it is worth mentioning the lecture by Joshua R. Smith (University of Washington, USA) entitled "Perpetual Computing: Technologies for Banishing Batteries?", Petar Sabev Varbanov's (Brno University of Technology-VUT Brno, Czech Republic) "Minimization of the Energy Resource Demands and Environmental Footprints for Industrial and Urban Symbiosis using the Circularity and Exergy Profit Concepts", and Dimitrios Tzovaras' (Center for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), Greece) "Revolutionizing Industry 4.0 with Artificial Intelligence?".

Workshops also deserve a mention: "Meeting Six Editors in Chief-How to Increase your Publication Result and Success", moderated by Jiří Jaromír Klemeš, Sandro Nižetić and Petar Sabev Varbanov. Dubravko Čulibrk from the University of Novi Sad organized the workshop "Hands-on training: AI in Focus" where participants were introduced to possibilities of Huawei AI Ascend system, while PANTERA & SUPEERA held a joint workshop "Boosting R&I activity on Smart Grid Technologies".

Participants had the opportunity to attend "RFID Symposium" organized by Luca Catarinucci (University of Salento, Italy) and Luigi Patrono (University of Salento, Italy) organized the "IoT Symposium".
