As part of the Sustainability Festival, an exceptional cultural program took place on October 1st, at University Gallery, including "Woman - Landscape" exhibition opening, by academic artist Rija Trdin, professor at Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek, as well as a concert by the Tambourine Quartet Bastion from Osijek and Split Mandolin Quartet.
Among numerous guests, the exhibition opening and concert were attended by Rector of University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek, prof. Vlado Guberac Ph.D., and University of Split’s rector, Prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., who opened the exhibition, saying:
"This exhibition showcases just the thing that might be missing in our contemporary art - polyvalence of interests, as we can say that all Ria's interests are equally expressed and visible. When we talk about her drawings, she does not draw in a classical manner, but rather uses a more traditional approach with underpainting, which is then followed by graphic elements. If she is not satisfied, she underpaints and graphically processes surfaces again, thus creating the traditional technique of picture-drawing," stated prof. Vladimir Rismondo Ph.D., curator and author of the preface.
Following the exhibition opening, the concert featuring two quartets captivated the audience. The Split Mandolin Quartet, composed of Ivana Kenk Kalebić (1st mandolin), Sandra Kovačević (2nd mandolin), Dea Škorić Ferrari (mandola) and Stela Ivanišević Curić (mandocello), first took the stage, delivering flawlessly works by Split composer Vlado Sunko, composed precisely for mandolin quartet. They were followed by the Tambourine Quartet Bastion, consisting of Domagoj Rodić (bisernica), Luka Juriša (A brač), Martin Marijanović (E brač), and Darko Čuvidić (cello). Their repertoire includes works by classical composers such as Mozart and Strauss, concluding with a spectacular "Oliver Medley," in which they performed Zdenko Runjić's "Nocturno" and Biagio Antonacci's "Trag u beskraju," eliciting ovations from the audience.
The project was coordinated and events moderated by Helena Trze Jakelić, Head of University Gallery.
